This dream starts off with me on a boat in the middle of fuck nowhere in the ocean. I’m with a small group of people on our way to possibly uncover something massive while also trying to make an attempt at stopping some bad people. All we knew was to go to this location at this time and we’d find them, our job was to make sure they didn’t get what they wanted. As we arrived we found their several boats of varying sizes, the biggest was a heavily modified custom fishing vessel but its technology was a few eras ago. The boat had a dock at its rear that lay gently in the water with steps leading from that platform up to a landing. We were dropped off onto the ship while our boat left to get to safety. Combat happened pretty quick but it was very looney toons style running around and fighting. Eventually when main bad guy came out he started a dumb monologue about what he was doing. He had discovered through word of mouth and research into old maps and stories that there was a lost civilization right below us. A few of my group called bullshit as we were in the middle of the ocean with nothing around for weeks. So he said he’d prove it, we’d wait till the ocean sunk from it’s tide far enough so we can access the top layer of the tallest building. Some part of me knew that he was telling the truth and that we should leave the civilization alone.
Dream skipped suddenly to another group of people. This time I was brought along as a means of protection from evil, as I was a sort of cleric or light mage. We had a fair 20 ish people I’d say along a mix of horses and wagons. Our journey was to take us across the lands to a kingdom, I think, but there was essentially the worst evils between. First we traversed through extremely rough plains that were so damn bumpy they could have been mountains themselves. Surrounding this great plains were actual mountains touring into the heavens, stretching out in every direction but gave way at a pass. While we were about halfway across these plains, primordial titans, one of ice and one of fire, battled one another. They tore up the landscape like it was molding clay, reshaping the far mountains behind us to the right as a consequence of their little dispute. We would be the last to witness this area with this geography.
Their battle in the distance still kicked up massive boulders around us, sent earthquakes past the mountains, they would hurl chunks of ice and fireballs which either scorched or soaked the plains. Quickly we had to take cover and escape, normally the hilly nature of these plains would be fine but these were titans. There was a boneyard noted nearby on our navigational charts which hinted at a possible exit. Upon arrival we found the boneyard was shoved into the earth, hidden away, and yet was carved and fashioned into pseudo-buildings. I was urged to go investigate as I knew my way around the evils. So I found an opening in the ground with hideous tan bone walls and dropped in. The structures were actually quite well maintained, bone made good supports. This is when I started to get more lucid as the threat of the titans faded into the distance. I was wearing a tan-white clerical mage outfit with gold trim, various layers of fabric atop each other, and I believe I carried a matching bag with me.
While going through these tunnels I found they were all interconnected like streets, and an opening to the surface that could fit wagons. I hadn’t seen any dangers yet so we brought everyone underground and slowly progressed through the bigger chambers. This is when everyone was quiet, calm, and alert. I asked the heads of our group if they knew of another group at sea, they said they didn’t know. I followed up by saying I had just seen a group at sea in need of help, if we could somehow provide. I was then urged to ignore it as we were in enough danger already. A while later we finally found the area which would offer exit out into the adjacent forest to the mountains. Though this area was carved like a small cathedral and sacrilegious site. I stood guard at the top of some stairs watching over the others when haunting voices and darkness filled it.
Shadows sprung up at us, twisted vile figures played across the walls, swiping and grabbing at our things. Everyone was in fear at this sudden ambush, chaos and broken communication left us standing there. I, however, knew this was the work of only 1 being. If it played in darkness then I was its match. I cast artificial light to fill the chamber and quickly the evil was banished, tho it made every attempt at getting through. Those not in my light were still tormented, so I made effort to walk closely with the group. We made our way out, the last room was a bit of a squeeze through hallways and then out through the side entrance of the mountain, several stone columns held up the roof as we passed them into the forest. I took up the back to keep our enemy at bay, only it found friends. Battling me were multiple of the same type of creature, casting shadows, playing tricks, attempting to manipulate me into a position they can kill me. They tried so desperately, as if we were their last meal. While standing back against a pillar facing into the blackness I felt as if they’d still try to follow us, I had to make a final effort to kill them. Gathering my energy and strength I poured everything I had into turning myself into a walking sun, any amount of energy that left my body would turn into light. Normally you’re not supposed to do something like that, draining yourself when facing an enemy is mistake number 1, I knew that. Instead, I counted for how long I could hold it and focus on that. I made it 30 seconds using myself as possibly one of the brightest and longest held light spells. It worked tho, our enemy was gone for good.
After that, my body gave out, I collapsed right where I stood as my consciousness started to fade. Quickly someone grabbed me and carried me to a cart, laying me on top something soft, my assistant or partner had joined me. She talked me through what happened, them being safe, how much I helped and kept them all safe. She talked up how amazing my magic was. She comforted me as I lay there staring into the blue sky past the tree canopy, crying. I raised my right arm to point at the sky and say how bright it was. She gently laid my arm back down saying it was very bright thanks to me. I had no energy to move my body or talk or think, so damn drained and I could feel it all. I was told to rest and so I did.
I came back to consciousness at the boats, standing behind someone trying to make ritual preparations. The group surrounding us was me, 1 of my group, and then all bad peoples. I was only watching cause their leader had deemed me best fit to be the leader of my group, however that may be true. Papers were laid out on lightly damp surfaces while they tried making sense of the symbols and orientation. The guy trying to do so was a moron, overconfidence led him into second guessing himself. At some point, someone brought a young black goat they were going to use as sacrifice, I made a joke that they wouldn’t need it as that’s for another God. It hurt me so much just how incompetent they were at trying to do a ritual for a civilization no one has ever seen or heard before. Messing up that introduction to the world could have their many Gods hate you for generations. So I continued to mock and joke till eventually they got so fed up with it they turned to me and said “fine, why don’t you do it?” and I did. I had the goat taken away, I delved into the pages and we made actual progress. If I was to be held hostage while they performed an ancient ritual I want it at least done right.
That went on for some time, we did get it right, though I don’t remember it. I awoke again to my other group making way through the forests. Getting up off the wagon I walked alongside them till we noticed someone trailing us, stalking us. The forest was insanely thick so just about anything could hide next to us. It seemed that the group had gotten some rest as they picked up pace, piled onto wagons as the horses took us away. Some other magic users and I had our methods of transport, I was able to run and keep up with them to maintain my independence of the group if we’re attacked. Which we were, wolves poured out of the bushes running alongside our caravan snatching and biting at anything they could. Bigger wolves got stuck behind us fortunately but that left me at a disadvantage being near the back.
Too many wolves had surrounded us and the bigger ones started having human riders. I got cut off from the caravan as we neared a field in the forest. It opened up to a vast space that poured over a single rolling hill then joined the forest again. Despite not being with the caravan I was still able to make good speed and distance from our enemy. They never managed to get us, no fuckin clue how that happened.
Eventually I caught up with the group and the wolves faded out back into the trees. This was cause we neared cannibal territory, these guys are completely fucked. They’re not just “oh we eat flesh and put people on pikes” they make their shelter, their clothes, their furniture, their decorations, everything out of bits of people. We ended up on a road that took us directly into and through their settlement. One of the heads of the group told us as long as we keep to ourselves and are visibly threatening we will be fine. Forget about the trauma of going through their tho, fuck sakes. We rode and walked over stretched flesh canvases, watched as engorged and deformed humans traversed this vile jungle, all adorned in bone and additive body parts, blood dripping from just about every crevice. I’m glad my sense of smell wasn’t an option here.
I can’t remember anything else atm.
