- & Multiverse, ancient megaliths, dead giants, desert, mercenary, combat
- ~ Desert planet as a mercenary was pretty fun, this journey was really cool. Atmosphere and theming was awesome.
this dream was wild and delved into the inner workings of multiversal travel. so it starts off traversing a vast and epic desert thats littered with ancient megaliths and dead giants. It was extremely hot so we just wore thin layers of cloth over ourselves to stop the sun and sand. it was just me and my partner as we made our way with the jeep to a destination. approaching it there was activity of a mercenary military faction nearby so we got out and laid on the ground crawling around the dunes. it was bright and scorching, the sky was a dirty milky tan with splotches of an orange brown. the natural formation sat just up and over these sand dunes about 500 feet ahead. the rocks carefully obscured a latch like mechanism along with a puzzle to open the door which would swing open like a vault.
my partner and I crawled slowly up to the door and then got up, talking and moving slowly to not disturb anything. we did the puzzle except the last part and waited for the faction to move on then we opened it. the door swung open at a monstrously slow pace but enough to squeeze in. inside was still all natural rock formation except from it was carved a column straight down into the earth with scarce steps and platforms to stand on. the most notable detail being the walls of this narrow staircase down were all differently shaped pitch black doorways/portals. they were like a gradient, not artificially made but still natural, these were discovered and possibly moved here to where others were. each black portals center was an inky black which flowed like water outwards and slowly got thicker till it gooped up. the edges went from goopy texture into shards and finally hard black rock. each portal would take you to another multiverse or universe within one. after cataloguing our findings we took the jeep and drove off after resealing the entrance.
scene skip and now I’m with a faction who’s sole purpose is to just give these people a home cause the entire world is a sun blasted desert. I can’t remember much of the factions but I was talking with the council of this first one and they were upset with a bunch of stuff especially an attack they think is coming. I told them since I’m neutral and just stopping by on this world that I would go to the other faction and see what they’re up to. I was told they don’t want to turn me into a spy which they have no leverage over or earned respect to not betray them. the families were all doing simple menial jobs to keep things going but seemed happy enough. this base was tucked away in the back corners of a canyon with multiple layers in a large hole. their tech was advanced enough to get everything they needed just from the barren desert, along with a bit more sci fi esque weaponry than Earth has.
so I go to the other faction and they’re running around thinking an attack is coming against them. missiles and guns are being loaded, supplies being brought into storage and locked down. raid doors were being shut, kids shepherded inside. I was catching peoples eyes suspiciously but no one cared. one of the higher ranking people saw me and just shoved an assault rifle in my hands saying to help where I can. I can’t remember if an attack ever came or not.
scene skip and now I’m in an old abandoned mining facility in a command post up on a ridge. this place has been dead for thousands of years but computers in this room still ran. very ominous words lay across the screen. someone came in asking what I was doing but they were too busy to care if I was a threat. the decrepit worn away human that was still rather young, mid 30s ish, asked me what I wanted with “his” tech. it wasn’t his but he has taken care of it. I asked what it was and he said its a program that tracks the entropic decay of an individual universe and estimates its lifespan, counting down till death. he then went on to say it can track multiverses too and showed me how we properly denote multiverse from universe numbers. such as U34500 or #34500, etc. where as a multiverse is M396. The universe number total seemed VASTLY larger than the multiverse totals. now knowing what the tech was I asked why he was running around scared. he told me its cause a multiverse was about to die. a shiver went up my spine but I didn’t know what that meant properly without context. asking to elaborate didn’t get me much but he said that since there were multiple universes with a similar estimated decay that the overall decay of that multiverse would be too much and it’d collapsed essentially.
wish I could have spent more time there with him, hoping to know who he was and how he knew these things but instead I had taken notes and ended up waking up
